How will my data be stored?

In May 2018 the Data Protection Act was replaced by the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The changes to the Data Protection Act are aimed at ensuring that your personal, confidential, and sometimes sensitive data, is held privately and securely. Robyn will process all data in compliance with GDPR rules.

How long will you hold my information for?

As a member of the National Council of Hypnotherapists (NCH) Robyn is bound by their regulations and must keep written records for adults (18 years and above) stored securely for 8 years after their final session. For children under 16 years records must be kept until the age of 25 and 26 for children aged 17 years. Records will be destroyed in the January after the dates shown above.

What if I would like my data to be destroyed before this date?

Under GDPR regulations you are able to request the deletion of any of your records at any time. Please submit your request in writing. NB Robyn will need to save the written deletion request but all other data including emails and text messages will be deleted.

Am I able to see or get a copy of the information held by you?

Yes, inline with the GDPR, within 30 days. Please submit request in writing specifying required data.

What are the reasons for collecting this information?

In order to provide the highest quality support to her clients Robyn will collect the following information.

·        Contact details

·        Basic medical information

·        GP contact details

·        Brief session notes

·        Outline of reason for hypnotherapy sessions

·        Basic information about your important others

This allows Robyn to provide continuity within your sessions in order to help you towards your goal. Robyn will only use your contact details/address and GPs details with your explicit consent.

How do I know that you will store my information securely?

·        Paper session notes- All paperwork is stored within locked filing cabinet.

·        Emails & electronic notes- Kept on a secure password protected/ cloud-based storage.

·        Text messages/WhatsApp-Stored within a password protected phone.

Are our discussions within the hypnotherapy sessions confidential?

Yes. Everything you discuss with Robyn during your sessions remains strictly confidential, unless there is reason to believe you may be a danger to yourself or others. Occasionally Robyn May seek support from supervision to ensure the highest quality of service. However, no identifiable features will be disclosed during discussion.

What if I see you outside the hypnotherapy session?

To protect confidentiality in line with GDPR Robyn may acknowledge you but not initiate any further conversation. However, it is your choice if you wish to discuss your therapy with others and you are welcome to do so.

Will you discuss information about me with other health and social care professionals?

Only with your written consent.
